June was an exceptional month for Canteen as the Bandanna Day 2024 appeal took center stage, delivering a series of fundraising triumphs across Aotearoa. From energetic street appeals, to head shaves, all raising vital funds to ensure that rangatahi don't have to face cancer alone. Overall, over $32,000 was raised from Bandanna Day 2024!
Our purr-fect animal bandanna designs went down like a treat! For Bandanna Day 2024, we launched two new bandannas designs, featuring cat and dogs. Animals lovers jumped on the opportunity to get their hands on the bandannas, with the feline design being our most popular this year so far!
This year’s Bandanna Day appeal saw the introduction of several new and exciting fundraising activities.
One of the standout events was Canteen’s participation in the Armageddon Expo in Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland). From June 14 to 16, Canteen hosted the X-Shot Battle Arena, a thrilling experience that drew a crowd of over 900 participants. The event was a resounding success, raising an impressive $6,800. A highlight of the event was a generous $2,000 donation from Viva La Dirt League, New Zealand’s popular online entertainment group, which significantly boosted the fundraising total.
We also launched the Canteen School Challenge, with schools across Aotearoa raising a total of $5,700. This collective school effort showcased the widespread community support and engagement with Canteen’s mission. Rosehill College in Papakura, Auckland, emerged victorious, having raised $2,700 through their school’s fundraising efforts. As rightful winners, they secured an exclusive performance from Drax Project.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who supported the appeal in any way - whether through volunteering, participating in events, purchasing bandannas, or making donations. Your support has made a significant difference, and Canteen extends its deepest gratitude to all who contributed to this remarkable achievement.
We also want to show our gratitude for the support from our wonderful partners across Aotearoa – who wore and sold bandannas, and helped us to spread the word far and wide! Your help meant we were able to raise more funds for our rangatahi impacted by cancer – thank you.
It’s never too late to show your support and get involved – get your bandanna today to show your support for rangatahi impacted by cancer.
