Central Hub Rafting Adventure

Rangatahi from across the region recently came together for a Central Hub Day with a difference, swapping the everyday for wetsuits, paddles and a fast-moving stretch of river with Wellington Rafting.

Sixteen rangatahi took part in the white-water rafting experience, which was generously provided free of charge by the Wellington Rafting team. From the moment we arrived, their crew went above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome, safe and excited for the day ahead.

Hub Days are all about connection, and this one delivered in every sense. Days like this give them the chance to step away from appointments, treatments and routines, and be surrounded by people who get what they're going through.

Out on the water, there was plenty of laughter, encouragement and shared nerves as rafts tackled the rapids. Friendships formed quickly, with rangatahi cheering each other on and celebrating every splash and successful run. The day was a chance for rangatahi to try something new with people who understand what life with cancer can bring.
