Regular Giver

Every day, more than 10 rangatahi in Aotearoa are diagnosed with cancer or learn that a parent or sibling has cancer. Facing cancer at this stage of life can be incredibly isolating, but the right support can make all the difference. A monthly gift helps provide rangatahi with the support they need. After just six months of support, over three-quarters of rangatahi who accessed our services reported improvements in their mental health and overall wellbeing.

You make a
Big impact

A monthly gift to Canteen ensures rangatahi impacted by cancer have access to vital support, from counselling and therapeutic programmes to peer support events and online services. Regular givers are the link that keeps these services available, so no rangatahi has to face cancer alone. Your generosity provides immediate support while also helping us plan for the future, ensuring we can continue reaching those who need us. As a 100% community-funded organisation, we rely entirely on the commitment of supporters like you to keep this connection strong.

Face-to-face
Fundraisers

Regular giving is one of the most cost-effective ways to support Canteen, helping us plan ahead and reach more rangatahi. Most of our regular givers sign up through our face-to-face fundraisers, who will be out in residential areas across Aotearoa, going door to door to chat with people about Canteen and the option to make a regular donation.

FUNDRAISING FAQs

Face-to-face fundraising is when a fundraiser speaks directly with someone in the community about a charity and how they can support it.

Our team will be out in residential areas across Aotearoa, going door to door to chat with people about Canteen and the option to make a regular donation. This is often called door-to-door fundraising, or door-to-door knocking.

Yes, Canteen does carry out face-to-face fundraising (door-to-door knock) in communities across the motu.

You can check if we are fundraising in your area this month by checking our fundraising locations.

Face-to-face fundraising is one of the most personal and effective ways for us to raise awareness and share the impact of our work with the community. It allows us to engage with huge numbers of people and reach potential supporters who we wouldn't otherwise connect with.

By meeting people in person, our fundraisers can explain how regular giving helps provide vital support for rangatahi impacted by cancer. Face-to-face fundraising allows for open conversations and ensures supporters understand the tangible impact their contributions will make.

71% of Canteen’s revenue is received from monthly givers who have joined us after meeting one of our fundraisers. Without this support, we would not be able to provide our vital services to rangatahi aged 12-24 impacted by cancer.

You can spot one of our fundraisers by their Canteen-branded green polo, rain jacket or sweatshirt, cap, and their MBS ID badge, with a photo, name, and ID number.

Our face-to-face fundraisers are a committed group of people passionate about Canteen’s mission. Every day they speak to people about the important role the public plays in supporting Canteen’s essential services.

Canteen has partnered with a leading face to face fundraising agency, Meraki Business Solutions. This partnership plays an important role in helping us meet the rising demand for our services.
