Leadership Programme
Helping rangatahi develop new skills, gain confidence, and explore leadership opportunities.

Through structured workshops, inspiring speakers, discussions, and an immersive leadership camp, participants build teamwork skills, connect with peers, and grow personally and professionally.
Leadership
Programme
Canteen has a proud history of rangatahi leadership and aims to provide rangatahi with opportunities to develop skills and connections that will benefit rangatahi for the future, while also contributing to the direction of the organisation. Any rangatahi using Canteen services aged 16 or over can apply to become a rangatahi leader. The core responsibilities of the leadership teams include advising, advocating, providing peer support, and community presence

Rangatahi
Development Grant
This is a financial grant to assist Canteen Members to thrive, grow and develop in areas such as learning, career skills or recovery. The grant is open to all rangatahi supported by Canteen. The grants will be up to a maximum of $1,000 per application and we have application intakes each quarter. A select committee will determine the grant recipients for each intake.

Member
Directors
Canteen is a rangatahi-led organisation, ensuring that young people have a voice at every level of decision-making. Our governance structure includes rangatahi representation on the Board of Directors, with Member Directors—young people who have been part of Canteen—helping to oversee the organisation’s operations. We actively support and empower rangatahi to take on these leadership roles, making sure their experiences and perspectives shape the direction of Canteen.
