Access Keys

In a web browser an access key or accesskey allows a computer user to immediately jump to a specific part of a web page via the keyboard. (wikipedia)

Access keys are useful for people with mobility issues who don't use a mouse and rely on the keyboard to navigate websites. Access Keys allow users to quickly navigate to different pages and areas of content on a page. They can also prove to be useful shortcuts for able-bodied users.

The access keys used on the CanTeen website are:

  • N: Skip to navigation
  • S: Skip to content
  • H: Go to the homepage
  • K: Return to this access key definition page
  • 0-8: Main navigation items

To use access keys on a PC, press [alt] + [access key] (in Internet Explorer), or [alt] + [shift] + [access key] (in Firefox), or on a Mac [ctrl] + [access key].
